Things to Do in Fromberg Montana
Whether you’re looking for a place to go or an activity to enjoy, there’s something for everyone in Fromberg MONTANA. The town’s many attractions include the Teddy Bear Bakery, the Little Cowboy Bar, the Clarks Fork Valley Museum, and the Bluewater Fish Hatchery.
Fromberg MONTANA’s Teddy Bear Bakery
The Teddy Bear Bakery is located in Fromberg, Montana, and is owned by Marge and Tammy. They are active members of the town’s Improvement Committee and cook up a storm every year to create the most delicious goodies for the town’s annual bake sale. Marge even wakes up at 2 a.m. to start preparing the dough for her famous raspberry and caramel rolls. Fromberg was once known as a rodeo town, and the town was once home to the Little Cowboy Bar and Museum.
Its Little Cowboy Bar
The fire at Its Little Cowboy Bar in Fromberg on February 5 has been doused, but not before the firefighters have spent a couple of hours mopping up. The fire was so fierce that the water from the firefighting efforts froze over the road surrounding the building. Despite the frozen street, you can see the charred remains of the bar. The west side of the building has a large hole, indicating where the fire started. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but no suspicious activity was reported at the time of the fire.
The Little Cowboy Bar and Museum is one of the most iconic buildings in Fromberg. A low-slung bar and a green stucco storefront give it a distinct look. This former cowboy bar and museum has been a part of the town’s history for decades. The bar also boasts a collection of donated memorabilia.
Fromberg’s museum showcases the history of the area. Its t-plan town center features a restored railroad depot, which is part of the old Northern Pacific spur line. Other historic buildings have also been relocated onto the grounds. Historic domestic architecture, such as vernacular-style early 20th-century houses, is well-documented in Fromberg.
Its Clarks Fork Valley Museum
Located on East River Street in Fromberg, MT, the Clarks Fork Valley Museum is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of local history and culture. It holds educational programs and events to support its mission. The museum is a nonprofit organization that supports itself through ticket sales, donations, and memberships.
The museum’s main building was a former Northern Pacific depot that served the region for nearly half a century. It was relocated about 75 feet from the railroad tracks and is now the centerpiece of the Clarks Fork Valley Museum. In 1993, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum continues to be a “work in progress,” adding three additional historic buildings to the site.
Its Bluewater Fish Hatchery
The Bluewater Fish Hatchery in Fromberg, Montana is one of the best places to experience the local fisheries. Located about 10 miles southeast of town, it’s named after the town’s unique blue spring. It’s open seven days a week. Visitors can also visit the Fromberg Museum, a former train depot that is now closed for maintenance. Nearby are the Cooney Reservoir and Red Lodge Mountain.
Fromberg, Montana’s Bluewater Fish hatchery is a small hatchery with three employees. It is located at an elevation of 3,967 feet. The Hatchery uses Mapbox maps, which are licensed under a CC BY-SA 4.0 license. The text on Mapcarta is licensed under the same license as the maps.
Its historic railroad depot
The town of Fromberg, Montana is home to the historic Northern Pacific Railroad Depot, which was built in 1899. The depot was built to accommodate both freight and passenger traffic, and was the main focal point for the town’s development. It is one of the few remaining examples of a combined freight and passenger station built by the Northern Pacific Railroad.
Although moved from its original location, the depot maintains its architectural integrity. The depot is within the railroad right-of-way and fronted by trackage, retaining its prominent position in the town’s commercial district. Since the depot was built, very few alterations have been made to it. The main change is the installation of a new concrete foundation, but the building’s historic construction materials have been preserved.
The town is home to a small museum that celebrates the rich history of the Clark’s Fork river valley. Visitors can explore a restored railroad depot, one-room doctor’s office, and a traditional homesteader’s cabin. The museum is a popular destination for tourists and curious travelers alike.
The historic railroad depot in Fromberg is a landmark of the town and is a must-see destination. The town’s historical significance is rooted in the building of the Northern Pacific Railroad branch line in the valley in the late 1800s. This railroad provided a direct link between the town and distant markets. It also served as a hub for businesses that served the agricultural settlers of the area.
In addition to the historic railroad depot, residents can enjoy water sports at the nearby Cooney Reservoir. During the winter months, skiers can reach Red Lodge Mountain in less than an hour.
